Initially when it was intermittently working tapping the side with my palm started it again.
2. Now motor doesnt spin at all AND Blue button light sometimes comes on when pressed BUT doesn't go off when pressed a second time. Other times it doesn't come on at all.

I don't think it is the microswitches as otherwise when the light comes on the motor should spin AND I has 'bridged' a wire from the 'spare' NO terminal on one to the other so this should complete the wire line.

Could it be one of the square yellow capacitor on PCB causing it?...I assume it wouldnt be the capacitor where the mains lead comes in otherwise I wouldnt get power to the PCB blue light.

Unfortunately I dont have a meter so can't test any voltage, resistance etc.

ThanksEBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10813653075130271335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7379470307269367411.post-16788707697951018912022-09-05T06:09:15.921-05:002022-09-05T06:09:15.921-05:00The button broke on mine too and as the need for c...The button broke on mine too and as the need for coffee was urgent I designed a replacement part that could be printed on a 3D printer and had the machine grinding again in less than an hour. Apart from providing clear and useful instructions, your wry sense of humour also made me laugh!

The button on mine became dislodged and wouldn’t work and I ordered a replacement machine off the web. I then had a look on the web to see if I could repair it myself and came across your post. So before opening the new one when it arrives, I shall have a damn good bash bash at following your instructions and seeing if I can work out how to repair the button. I notice that some parts appear to be available on eBay, so if I need some I might pay a couple of pounds to get some. I've used araldite and a little bit of plastic sheet to splint the break but if that doesnt work it will be easy enough to fabricate a replacement piece. I replaced the triac with a similar component (BT148-400) but it no longer works. The blue power light comes on for a varying amount of time depending on the front dial and the motor twitches when the safety switches are released and pressed again. Any ideas?

Would the AC motor work if just connected directly to mains via a switch or is the circuit board doing something more than timing how long the grind is?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06026752969523778677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7379470307269367411.post-34609867978747614352019-02-06T05:02:52.538-06:002019-02-06T05:02:52.538-06:00Excellent guide - worth mentioning that the circui...Excellent guide - worth mentioning that the circuit board has a position to clip in to on the silver front piece. If you do not get this in the right place the on/off button may not reach the button on the circuit board and so will not operate. Found this out after first try at re-assembling, checking it out before I put the outer "sleeve" back on. A look through the side of the grinder showed that the switch was not reaching, and the slot that I had missed out on. I bought my grinder in February 2007, so it's almost 10 years old , [I Taped the date on a little bit of paper underneath the grinder ), and it has been giving me grief for probably the last 4 years or so. It grinds beautifully - I just love it ...(when it works), the little micro switch on top would get dirty with coffee debris and wouldn't work so I had to clean it with a small brush, and then I noticed the main power switch started to be loose and it was very flaky as to whether or not it would engage. It had to press it "just so". I tried to figure out how to take it apart so I could replace the switch or put a toggle switch in it for the longest time but couldn't figure it out until I found your blog.
I bypassed the microswitch by soldering the two wires together and as many other posters here have experienced, the cheap little plastic connection that proved to be a huge weak spot in the power switch design was my issue as well. So I rigged up a little "splint" out of a tin can lid, drilled a 1/8" hole through one side of it to coincide with the hole in the plastic piece that allows a small screw through it to keep it in place; then I mixed up a tiny batch of J-B Weld Epoxy and glued the tin metal splint on the back of the 2 broken pieces, tying it together like a cast. Plus having a hole drilled in the new metal will give ithe whole piece extra strength when I screw it back in. ( many thanks to one of the posters previous to me that gave me the idea )! So I just have to wait until the epoxy hardens to put it all back together.
Thanks to the owner of this blog!,Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15579324494638425824noreply@blogger.com
